Theriome Metabolic Testing aftercare: first 48 hours
By Facial Skin Lab | August 20, 2026
I keep aftercare simple because most people in Denver want this to be quick and low-disruption. Right after your Theriome Metabolic Testing blood draw, press firmly over the site for 5 to 10 minutes, keep the bandage on for at least 1 hour, drink water and eat if you fasted, and skip heavy upper-body exercise for 24 hours. Call me if bleeding won’t stop, bruising keeps growing, you get severe dizziness, or you see infection signs.
Quick reassurance: Theriome Metabolic Testing is a 30-minute appointment with a blood draw and a results consultation. Most aftercare is basic puncture-site care and smart activity choices, especially with Denver’s dry air and altitude.
First 24 to 48 hours: pressure, bandage, water, and workout rules
The first few minutes matter most. As soon as the draw is done, I want you pressing firm, steady pressure over the puncture site for a full 5 to 10 minutes. Don’t “peek” every 30 seconds. That on-and-off checking is how a small bruise turns into a bigger one.
Keep your bandage on for at least 1 hour. After that, you can remove it and leave the area open to air. If you need to clean it, gentle soap and water is enough. Try not to soak the area for 24 hours, so skip hot tubs, long baths, and anything that keeps the site submerged.
Denver tip: Altitude plus dry climate can make lightheadedness more likely after a fasting draw. Start hydrating right away, and don’t push a hard outdoor workout the same day.
Can you exercise?
For 24 hours, skip heavy lifting and strenuous upper-body workouts. That includes pull days, push days, intense yoga that loads your arms, and anything that makes you brace hard through your shoulders. Light walking is fine. A calm City Park walk after your appointment in City Park West can be a great option, just pay attention to how you feel and stop if you get faint.
If you commute on I-25 or Colorado Blvd and you’re squeezing this into a tight day, keep it simple: hydrate, eat something with protein if you fasted, and save the tough workout for tomorrow.
Bruising, swelling, and soreness: what’s normal and what’s not
A little bruising is common. Mild tenderness can show up too, especially if you’re someone who bruises easily or you had to use the arm a lot right after.
If you notice bruising starting, use cold first. Ice for the first 24 hours tends to help. Keep it gentle and short, think 10 minutes on, then a break. If there’s still swelling after 48 hours, heat can be more comfortable than ice.
The big red flag is a bruise that rapidly expands or feels tight and pressured. That’s not something to wait out. Apply firm pressure and reach out right away so I can guide you on next steps.
The first week: keep the site calm and don’t accidentally irritate it
Most people feel totally normal the same day. Still, the easiest way to avoid lingering soreness is to treat that puncture site like it’s healing, because it is. Don’t scratch it. Don’t pick at any little scab. And don’t slap on strong topical products directly over it for a couple of days.
If you’re someone who loves saunas or long, hot showers, keep the heat reasonable for the first day. Heat can increase blood flow and sometimes makes bruising look worse before it looks better. This is especially true if you head out into the sun and dry air around Denver right after your appointment.
If you’re in City Park West or Park Hill and you’re making a day of it, keep plans easy. A museum visit along East Colfax is a better pairing than a heavy gym session or a long bike ride right after the draw.
Biotin, supplements, and hydration: what helps and what can confuse blood tests
Water after your test will not “dilute” your Theriome results. If anything, hydrating helps you feel better, especially after fasting and in our high-and-dry climate. Drink water steadily for the rest of the day, and add electrolytes if that’s already part of your normal routine.
Supplements are different. Biotin is the big one people forget about. In general lab testing, biotin can interfere with some blood test methods. If you take biotin or a high-biotin hair, skin, and nails supplement, tell me. I’ll walk you through the timing I want you to follow based on your testing plan.
Same goes for anything you started recently. A quick note from you helps me keep your results conversation clean and useful.
When to call Facial Skin Lab (and when it’s safe to relax)
I want you to feel taken care of after you leave. Mild bruising, a little tenderness, or a small spot of blood on the bandage can be normal. What isn’t normal is bleeding that continues beyond 20 to 30 minutes even after firm pressure.
Reach out if you notice any of these
- Bleeding that won’t stop after 20 to 30 minutes of firm pressure
- A bruise that’s getting larger quickly, feels tight, or looks uncontrolled
- Increasing pain, spreading redness, warmth, drainage, or fever
- Severe dizziness or fainting that doesn’t improve with sitting or lying down

If you’re coming in from Aurora, Glendale, Edgewater, Lakewood, Englewood, or Thornton and something feels off after your draw, message or call. I’d rather answer a “quick question” today than have you worry overnight.
A quick note if you found me searching “facials near me”
A lot of people meet me through skincare first, things like a radiance facial, anti-aging support, or asking about peels near me, a skin treatment near me, or even luxe lift facials near me. If that’s you, you’re in the right place. Theriome Metabolic Testing fits nicely with an inside-out approach, and your results consult is where we connect the dots in a practical way.
